The Parisian Eugene Delacroix museum is currently hosting an exhibition entitled "Des fleurs en hiver (Winter Flowers)" to celebrate the renovation of its garden. Two contemporary artists, Jean-Michel Othoniel and Johan Creten, are also invited to illustrate the continuing prominence of the floral theme which inspired so many of Delacroix's paintings. His extreme sensitivity to the forces of nature and their relationship to mankind which makes his compositions particular striking. The work of Othoniel also has that abstract-from-distance yet poetic-close-up feel just like Delacroix's but in sculptural forms and mostly in glass. While Creten, known for his sensual ceramic and bronze female form works, embodies a dialogue between art, history and literature. In this exhibition, his earthenware sculptures express the erotic essence of flowers. If you are as sensible as Delacroix, you have it until March 18th, 2013, to admire with him at his museum.
