They were just Kids

In July 1942, 14000 Parisian Jews were arrested by the French police. And among them, many were innocent children who eventually got killed as a result of the French Vichy complying with the Nazi orders to round up the Jewish community. Seventy years after this tragic event, the City of Paris has decided to commemorate these children with photos and some heart-breaking artwork that survived the occupation in an exhibition entitled "C'étaient des enfants (They were just Children)." There was also a French film called "Au Revoir les Enfants (Goodbye Children)" in 1987 that illustrates this story of courage and betrayal of Jewish children who were hidden in a Catholic boarding school. Many documents, journals, photographs and letters were displayed to show many selfless French courage, despite the Nazi orders, saving Jewish families and children in particular. If you are interested in history, this is definitely an exhibition to check out before October 27th, 2012.
