Famous Parisian engraving artist Cécile Combaz is finally sharing her art outside the big City of Light for the first time in a small village called Aix-les-Bains near the French and Swiss borders. For this special occasion, Combaz has created a rich and bold collection entitled "Sous-bois (Undergrowth)" that invites you for a walk under her rather graphic and vibrant vegetation. The artist, known for her expressive human figures, has decided to experiment and present her engraving skills in a whole new direction for this particular exhibition. Each undergrowth is printed and presented in the Kakemono style which gives each artwork more depth and the possibility to be admired no longer bound to a restricted frame and wall. For those of you who are not familiar with the term kakemono, it is a Japanese unframed painting made on paper or silk and can also be used as wall divider with a large format. It feels fresh and airy especially now the summer has finally arrived all over France this week. If you are touring around our country soon, don't miss out on your chance to discover one of the important French thermal spa regions as well as Combaz's kakemonos from August 1st only till August 31st, 2012! And if you are interested to commission Combaz for special projects and exhibitions in your city or country, feel free to contact her directly here.
