Under those Cobblestones

You can still find cobblestones in many parts of Paris but they have been slowly replaced by concretes just like in many young countries in the last 100 years especially in public places. Most of us probably don't think or realize the roles of those designers behind the conceptualization of these spaces when we look at a newly developed area. Started more than two years ago, Le Lieu du Design is a project by Jean-Paul Huchon, the president of the Greater Parisian area Île-de-France, to create a space that is entirely dedicated to design. So it makes perfect sense to have this exhibition, entitled "Sous les pavés, le design (Under the cobblestones, the design)" at this space to help us see the importance of these anonymous designers who give us the comfort, the beauty, the innovation and the functionality in the urbanization around the world. Three of the guest designers as part of this exhibition are: Matali Crasset, Jean-Louis Frechin and Olivier Peyricot, to discuss the public areas of tomorrow as the world cultures and lives continue to evolve and the role of the designers become even more essential to find solutions to adapt to the new demands and standards. You can check it out until June 23rd, 2012.
