Les Halles, one of the busiest and most famous central subway stations in Paris, is probably known simply as a big subway station and an outdated underground mall to most French and tourists around the world who come to the City of Lights. Would you believe that it was actually an open public market where people came and got their meat, cheese, fruits and vegetables back in the early 19th century? If you don't, the photographer Robert Doisneau is going to prove it to you with his exhibition "Doisneau, Paris les Halles" showcasing lives and the evolutions of this Paris' belly (ventre de Paris in French) with his photos taken from 1933 to date. And this evolution continues to taken another turn currently in Paris transforming Les Halles again to make it more modern and ecological friendly. If you are interested to discover this historic area of Paris, you can check it out before April 28th, 2012.
