Romy forever

Romy Schneider, one of the most famous Austrian-born German French actresses, is now being honoured after she passed away 30 years ago.  Romy (Rosemarie Magdalena Albach), came from a family of actors in Austria and started her acting career already at the age of 15. At the age of 20, during the filming of Christine, she felt in love with the world renowned sex symbol and co-starred Alain Delon who persuaded the young girl to join him in Paris and they got engaged soon after. Her fairy tale continued with her acting career on the rise in France with famous directors at the time such as Orson Welles and Luchino Visconti. Her brief stint in Hollywood also included films such as Good Neighbor Sam (1964) with Jack Lemmon and What's New Pussycat? (1965) with Peter O'Toole and Woody Allen.  However, the magic with Delon was not going as smooth as her career and the couple decided to split up in 1963 although they remained close friends. The actress continued to have huge success in her brilliant career but began drinking heavily after the death of her son David in 1981 and was found dead in her apartment in Paris on May 29th, 1982. It was suggested that she committed suicide with alcohol and sleeping pills but the authorities declared later that she had died from cardiac arrest. If you want to know more about this actress' life, you have it till February 22, 2012, to get to know her better.
