3D France

Ever wonder what France was like back in the days, the Louis XIV and Napoleon III days?  Well, it's one of the rare chances to see the historic miniature France in this new exhibition called La France en relief (France in 3D) at one of the gorgeous museums le Grand Palais. These miniature models of fortified towns is part of a unique collection dated back to 1668 under Louis XIV and expanded until 1873. Used for military purposes initially, the 1/600th-scale models allowed the central government to prepare their defensive operations as well as showed the power of France.  It exists over a hundred of these scaled models in France and sixteen of the most impressive pieces are showcased in the great hall of the Grand Palais.  There are also interactive multimedia displays and innovative tools at this amazing exhibition allowing visitors to examine every detail of these extraordinary models.
