Cabinet of Maarten curiosities

If you have never heard of a cabinet of curiosities, it was an encyclopedic collection in Renaissance Europe of objects that were yet to be categorized.  The term was also known as cabinet of wonder or wunderkammer in German and was regarded as a microcosm or theater of the world.  The Parisian museum Les Arts Décoratifs is currently exhibiting, for the first time, the work of the German designer Maarten Baas who is known for his iconic and fantasy creations that referenced the cabinet of curiosities from the XVI century.  Baas experiments the limits of design showing optical effects and illusions that form a universe of his own. Part of the exhibition gives you that déjà vu Tim Burton's Beetlejuice that brings us all back to our childhood.  Ready to be a kid again?  You still have two months left until February 12th2012.  So why not go and check it out during the Christmas holidays at
