Kirili's Autumn

This past weekend was Paris biggest annual contemporary art weekend and you can certain still see their traces all over the City of Light in several parks and in front of certain popular monuments. One of them is the "Rythmes d'Automne (French for Autumn Rhythm)" by the French sculptural artist Alain Kirili. A meditative series of sculptures right in front of the Parisian city hall that creates a dialogue between the Renaissance styled l'Hôtel de Ville and minimalist modern sculptures. The title of the installation is inspired by a cryptic relation with one of Jackson Pollock's paintings where Kirili expresses using the spurt of spontaneous and improvised thirty-five inch tall monumental cement elements. Each cement weights around 220 lbs and the socle is entirely covered with black gravels which provides a poetic levitation. If you are interested to see the sculptures, make sure that you stop by before November 28th, 2012.
