Photos are witnesses of our time and that's exactly what the British photographer Paul Graham has been doing for the last 30 years. The Parisian venue space LE BAL is currently hosting two of Graham's series: Beyond Caring (1984-85) from his earlier days and The Present (2011) from his more recent works. What distinguishes Graham and his fellow photographers is the simplicity of his photos that capture the lives of ordinary people in an ordinary everyday situation. Beyond Caring, depicting unemployment offices in Thatcher's Britain from the 80s, seems to be even more familiar today in our days; The Present, is simply a tribute to street photography with the hustle and bustle of New York City. Thirty years apart, yet the two series do connect with each other and even so with our ever-fast-changing lives today. They might seem banal but that's what makes Graham a grand master to bring out the extraordinary out of the ordinary. The exhibition will start on September 14th till December 9th, 2012.
