after Fukushima

It's been 15 months since the horrific earthquake, tsunami and the nuclear power plant hit the Japanese city Fukushima. It is amazing to see how the people of Japan, after the natural disaster, were able to pick themselves up and overcame the obstacles in such a short time. The exhibition, entitled "Renaissance du Japon après le 11 mars 2011 (Rebirth of Japan after March 11th, 2011)," tells the tragedy through photos, comic books, concerts, conferences, texts, and objects. They are divided between two halls: Salle des Prévôts where photos by Kazuma Obara witnessing Fukushima nuclear plants and the rebuild of Tohoku in the East of Japan, the before, after and today; Salle des Tapisseries where temporary urgent housing projects are the focus of the subject. Today at 5:00 pm, the Israeli violinist Ivry Gitlis will play and demonstrate with a violin made with the recycled wood from the Fukushima tsunami. This weekend June 30th, 2012 at 11:00 am, the photographer Obara will be in person to sign autographs followed by a violin concert by Rikuzen Takata at 4:30 pm
