The Himalayas, one of the highest and the most breath-taking mountains in the world, is now being exposed at the Parisian Water House Le Pavillon de l'Eau with amazing photos by the photographer Jean Philippe and the texts by the geography-anthropologist Serge Verliat. In Sanskrit, Himalayas means "the House of Snow," this water castle of Asia with over 1500 glaciers gave birth to numerous rivers of which came the 3 biggest rivers such as the Brahmaputra River, the Ganges River and the Indus River. This precious natural resource had also structured and divided the people, who live around them, socially, economically, politically and religiously. The exhibition also invites us all to reflect on three focused themes recently discussed at the International Forum Mondial de l'Eau (World Water Forum) in Marseille: "Ensuring the Well-being of Everyone", "Contributing to Economic Development" and "Keeping the Planet Blue." If you are interested to admire these beautiful photos and to get more information on the current global warming situation, the exhibition has been extended till May 26th, 2012 to let you do that.
