Berenice's photos

Do you know Berenice?  Maybe not, but you probably have seen photos of this American image visionary in the last century with her urban landscapes of the New York city in the 1930s. Berenice Abbott actually came to Paris in the 1920s and was trained by the great artist Man Ray before opening her successful studio as a portrait photographer. She was friends with Jean Cocteau, James Joyce, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Max Ernst and many others from the artistic and intellectual circles. Abbott had an eye and the technique to capture familiar images with her own flair. This first exhibition homage to Abbot who passed away in 1991 covers various stages of her career, featuring over 120 vintage prints and documents that were not previous shown to the public. You have it until April 29th, 2012 to admire this avant-garde photographer who never stopped to explore the notions of documentary pohtography and photographic realism, whether it's in portraits, architectures and life.
