Orlando Paladino, the opera piece by Joseph Haydn, ended a few days ago at Paris central theater Théâtre du Châtelet, is a heroic comic drama opera that is perhaps one of the most popular pieces by Haydn. What's interesting about this piece is the designer Nicolas Buffe, a young and talented French artist who was invited to design the set and the costumes all together to create something that blends so well with Haydn's universe. A mixture of the Japanese Manga and the European Baroque, Buffe's style opens up a whole new vocabulary in both the artistic and the theatrical worlds. One of his latest creations that fascinates us is his Unicorn's Skin where he uses a traditional animal rug concept and mixed with weaving techniques and contemporary art elements to give it a modern spin. A contemporary art weekend is coming up and if you are also intrigued by something rather unusual, you can check out his work at the gallery Schirman & de Beaucé until April 28th, 2012.
