La Maison de l'Amérique Latine is paying a homage to Jules Supervielle, one of the greatest contemporary poets in France. He was especially attached to Uruguay because he was born there in 1884 and spent all his childhood at Montevideo where he also found his refuge during the Second World War. As an eclectic writer, he could write novels and theater pieces as well as poems. The exhibition, commissioned by Juan Alvarez Marquez and entitled "Supervielle, poète de la Pampa," traces back history with old letters, photos, art books and manuscripts of the man who was living in another part of the world at Rio de la Plata. It shows just how much this great man was inspired in this other world with infinite freedom and ideas that influenced a great deal of his life and his work. You have your chance to read the poet until January 19th, 2012.
