If you have not seen the latest exhibition in Paris by the South African artist Lyndi Sales, you still have a week left to admire it at the gallery Maria Lund until December 3rd. This second solo show of Sales in France, entitled "Passive Surveillance," using mainly paper and other mixed materials, refers to the observer and the observed in objective and subjective observations to evoke the existential and metaphysical interrogation which is often found in all her work. The central piece Onthology, a monumental piece in suspension in the centre of the gallery, suggests infinity. The piece is entirely made out of newspaper cuttings with fragments of information appearing and interconnecting in black and white zones. It is a reflection of scientific study models and questioning which also resembles molecular structures or some type of complex flowcharts. Sales constantly searches for metaphors and symbols through her work to stimulate reflection and thoughts. If you are also in search of artistic stimulation, this is a good place to start.
