Autumn Salon

Salon d'Automne (Autumn Salon) was first organized in 1903 as an opposition to the conservative policies of the official Paris Salon in the last century.  The salon was showcasing mostly paintings and sculptures and had the support of established artists such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Auguste Rodin in its early years.  After World War I, the salon was dominated by painters such as Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, Georges Braque and Georges Gimel.  The exhibition then extended to glassworks of René Lalique as well as architectural designs of Le Corbusier and in the last few decades, painters such as Edouard McAvoy, Jean Monneret and Maurice Boitel have become the main attractions of the salon.  These days the salon is open to a wide range of passionate artists who are ready to share their work with the world.  If you are curious, the salon is open from Oct 12th - 16th.
