Alphonse Fouquet

The name Fouquet is probably better known to most people as the restaurant where the French president Nicolas Sarkozy celebrated his presidential victory in 2007.  But this is a different Fouquet, Alphonse Fouquet, a middle class workman who came to Paris in 1838, created shapes and volumes of some extraordinary jewelleries from simple drawings and soon became famous in the beginning of 1847. Once he started to direct as the head of an atelier which massively produce his creations, he continued to explore his creativity audaciously with the mix of diamonds, sapphires, onyx, garnet, amethyst, topaz, turquoises and pearls. This is a rare exhibition to show a true talent of a master of jewels.  The exhibition runs from Oct 20th, 2011 - Feb 20th, 2012.
