India is the second most populous country on the planet but it remains little known to most of us. Other than those yummy Indian tandoori chicken and the great Bollywood movies, what else do we really know about India today? To many of us, probably not much. The exhibition PARIS - DELHI - BOMBAY that is currently showing at the French famous Centre Georges Pompidou, shows you the modern day India through the work of 50 artists, Indian and French, in the contemporary art. Contemporary India is approached through six major themes to project the profound changes undergone by a society in expansion: politics, urban development and the environment, religion, home, identity, and craft production. The effects of globalization, questions of history and memory in the face of the colonial past and the everyday struggles of women and minorities are among the themes evoked. The exhibition will end on September 19th. If you haven't had time to go, we would highly recommend you to discover for yourselves.
