Fashion Model Bodies

Models are essential elements in the fashion world. They incarnate a contradictory industry between creating an image and selling a product, and it has been that way since the 19th century. The exhibition,  entitled "Mannequin - le Corps de la Mode (Model - Fashion Body)," is looking back in our fashion history and analyzing the ideology of the female shapes in the past to the present day. Over 120 borrowed pieces such as fashion magazines, videos, photos, from the Parisian fashion museum Galliera, it aims to share with the public the "inner secret" of the fashion world and images that we have all become accustomed to in our everyday life now. In addition to the runway fashion models, there are also those plastic store window mannequins, sewing mannequins, puppets, barbies, etc, that contributed to the entire fashion system today. Aside from all the perfection, the exhibition also shows the gap between an artificial world of beauty, youth and the reality with the only goal is to sell a product. Actresses, muse and the fashion bloggers of the last few years, have also become part of this unattainable planet whose image and status are purely commercial weapons. Many interesting insight into the ever-fascinating world of fashion until May 19th, 2013
