We are always on the lookout for interesting exhibitions around us even when we were on vacation. During our recent stay in Brittany, we discovered this great French artist who is currently showcasing 50 years of his work entitled "Périodisation (Periodization) 1962-2012" sharing over 100 of the artist's work all reunited under one roof for the first time. No, no, it's not Fromage (cheese in French), it's Monsieur Gérard FROMANGER (with an N), one of the greatest French contemporary artists who was the pioneer of abstract figuration in Paris during the 60s. Fromanger already presented his work at the Modern Art Museum in Paris back in 1971 with his famous theme "la vie dans la ville (life in the city)" and he then presented the theme "tout est allumé (all lit up)" at the Pompidou Centre in 1980. What makes his work stand out is that he is not afraid of using bright colours to illustrate his messages in a rather subtle way. If you happen to be in the Landerneau area, why not pop in and check him out? The exhibition will end on October 28th, 2012.
