Paper, to most people, seem insignificant and plain but Peter Callesen would definitely disagree with you. A simple piece of paper, sure has a life under Callesen's hands and his scissors in just a few nip and tuck here there. Then, a story is created and ready to be discovered. Just like that. This is his first exhibition in the City of Light that allows us to discover something extraordinary out of something banal, to many. Callesen uses A4, 115 grams (about 4 ounces) European standard size paper that is longer but thinner than standard North American paper. The House of Danmark (La Maison du Danemark) in Paris is proud to present this ancient Danish decoupage tradition with twenty-two pieces from this amazing artist. There are big and small format works such as the Human Ruin and White Diary as well as framed A4 size sculptures. There is also a workshop that invites visitors to express their impression on these paper cut-out art. An exhibition not to be missed before June 17th, 2012.
