When we think of the great Italian Renaissance painters, Cima is probably not a name that often comes to mind first. Giovanni Battista Cima da Conegliano, was one of the most talented young painters in the late 15th century in Venice whose refined style and perfect technique distinguished him from all others. The composition, landscapes and colors of his paintings are often inspired by his native land in a small town in Venetia. Cima's success in his era was largely due to his receptiveness to new ideas and his extraordinary powers of assimilation in his every stroke. Nature, architecture and wide-open spaces give his paintings a poetic touch that were never seen in Venetian paintings before Cima's time. Thirty pieces including large altarpieces that are being shown for the first time outside Italy. If you are open and receptive like Cima, you have time until July 15th, 2012 to discover Venice under his eyes and strokes.
