In case you haven't noticed or heard, Paris Left Bank's beautiful Institut du Monde Arabe (or IMA / The Arab World Institute) just got a facelift not long ago. Last year we talked about the modern Islamic contemporary art Jameel Prize (see our previous post here) which really opened our eyes to a world and culture that we do not get much information about. For those of you who have never heard of this institute in Paris, it was designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, together with Architecture-Studio, built between 1981 and 1987 over an agreement between 18 Arab countries and France to disseminate information about the Arabic world and to promote its cultural, scientific and technological exchange. You have a library inside and can even take Arabic lessons with the Institute. This truly is an amazing place to discover the hidden beauty that is rarely talked about in the media when it comes to the Islamic Culture. Why not come and check it out for yourself?
