We have been seeing polka dots back on the fashion runways in the last few seasons. But for some people, dots have always been part of their lives and can NOT live without them. One of those people is the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama - the Queen of Dots. The artist is known by art lovers worldwide for her obsession of dots in her work. The French art centre Le Centre Pompidou is currently presenting, for the first time, a retrospective dedicated to her with a selection of her 150 works produced between 1949 and 2011. The exhibition is divided in different periods and places throughout the artist's life between Kyoto, Tokyo and New York where she lived between 1958 and 1973. Her distinctive work is quite powerful with many optical illusions and fool-of-the-eyes techniques and can give you that psychedelic experience which illustrates the different states of mind caused by tragic events in the life of the artist. The retrospective has just started yesterday and will run through January 9th, 2012.

This is one of her most amazing work with the use of mirrors, water and lighting to create that infinity world that sparkles on and off using warm and cold colours. You can get an idea in the video but seeing it in real gives that endless depth.
These are her most recent works between 2009 and 2010.
