Sales = Soldes

It's that time of the year again.  Twice a year, stores in Paris prepare their 5 week-long bi-annual sales campaign for summer at the end of June and for winter in the beginning of January.  Unlike many other countries where sales are entirely up to the stores, here in France is strictly regulated by the government for the dates and the amount of time.  This Summer Sales will be between June 22nd until July 25th, 2011 where stores will try to get rid off all of their summer stocks that have been sitting in their warehouse for a while and now at various discount prices.  You may have noticed the word SOLDES all over the place if you are currently in France.  That's the word for SALES and if you think about it, it makes total sense because once things are on SALE = most of the time, they are pretty much SOLD so we French totally understand the logic behind it.  If you are planning to visit Paris this July, it's your luck to get some great shopping deals in the City of Light!  So don't miss out!

Galerie Lafayette and Printemps are two of the most popular department stores in Paris.  They offer a wide ranges of high-end/low-end products for the whole family, the homes, the country houses and your pets as well and during the sales, they are like battle fields with bargain-hunting Parisians and tourists so we recommend you to go as soon as the doors open!
