Couture 101: FRENCH SEAM

French seam (funny how it's actually called Couture Anglaise <which means English seam> in French!) is a common seam done for higher-end and luxury fashion clothes.  The reason being that French seam takes double amount of time to do and it requires experiences to keep the raw edge inside due to fraying.  Basically the seam is sewn with wrong sides together first.  Once the seam allowances are trimmed and pressed, a second seam is sewn with right sides together, enclosing raw edges of the original seam allowances.  If we've lost you there, here is a video to show you how:
