Digital Art

Art comes in many different shapes and forms and with today's technologies, anything is possible.  We recently found a new art centre in Paris called Gaité Lyrique which is a new cultural and art gallery that exhibits not only interesting digital art projects in an unconventional way , but also provides a place for art-lovers and kids to play games and experience the latest innovation in the digital world.  We checked out the current exhibition featuring a group of innovative English and British designers Matt Pyke & Friends and their Super-Computer-Romantics vision.

Here are some additional information posted on one of the walls at the exhibition that gives you little notes on  Matt and his friends behind this project.  It tells you more about these creative souls and what they like and don't like.

Matt Pyke and his friends defying the gravity

Here is a short video of Matt Pyke explaining the idea behind the exhibition

As you walk in, this projection appears on a huge wall showing dancers in Matrix moves as if they were avoiding dots that might look like some type of insects or sand.  The clip is called SUPREME BELIEVERS and a little clip below to give you a taste of it

As you turn around, you see these digital messages traveling on the floor along the wall.

This is the black box Matt was talking about in his video explaining his idea and vision. Bouncing colourful bits reflected in mirrors which give you an infinite kaleidoscope effect.

This is another part of the exhibition that combines sound and  lighting.  Very effective indeed in the dark with the on/off lighting and music to guide you.

One of the highlights of this exhibition is this walking giant called Transfiguration which is an extension of the work Pyke did for one of MTV's clips.
