Meet Madame Grès

Most of you probably don't know who Madame Grès is.  To describe her in a few words, she was one of the few French female couturiers who was famous for her hand-pleated jersey dresses back in 1942 here in Paris.  Formally trained as a sculptress, she produced haute couture pieces for Duchess of Windsor, Marlene Dietrich, Greta Garbo, Jacqueline Kennedy, just to name a few.  There is an exhibition devoted to her work now in Paris.  We checked it out yesterday at the Museum Bourdelle and would like to share it with those of you who might not be able to come and see her work.

Her collection blends extremely well with the work of the French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle.  The museum was formally his home and his atelier where Mr. Bourdelle made some very impressive sculptures for the city of Paris and many other monuments.  If you do happen to be in Paris this week, come and see this beautiful and huge museum (the entrance makes it look small but it's not).
