COUDRE À LA MAIN
What makes haute couture different from the ready-to-wear is that it involves a lot of hand sewing. The French word is "coudre à la main" where "coudre" means to sew while "à la main" means by hand. Even though the new technologies have made sewing machines do beautiful and incredible work today, some sewing can still only be done by hand to give that human touch that no machine can easily reproduce.
