Special Order

basted chiffon

Working on a special order... haute couture is a long and delicate process and everything has to be done with threads and no white chalk powder nor pencil tracing. Threads are used (as you can see on the photos) to outline the actual patterns and then cut in the outer edge leaving 3/4-inch (about 2 cm) for the seam allowance. The threads are also used to help line up pieces together and guide you while you sew.  Make sure that you pin and baste the pieces together first so that it will make it easier for you to stitch right next to these "traced" threads. This is the traditional French haute couture technique that has been around for more than 100 years!

  2. Thanks for the follow and your comment and yes, it sure takes a tremendous amount of patience to work the haute couture way but when you are passionate about something, the patience comes naturally!
